" How does a startup company get into this business ? "

The Horn Group – Who We Are.

We sat on a plane returning from an NAB show several years back. Sitting next to us was a young man who, we found when we struck up a conversation, was also returning from NAB. During the flight we talked at length about the show. Neither of us knew the other, but in the common bond of interest in the video industry we had a long talk on the flight. We have been involved for many years, he was new to the field and enthusiastic. He had obviously spent a lot of time visiting booths at the show. It soon became apparent that one thing bothered him more than any specific detail of the show. In his desire to grow he talked to exhibitors about their products – getting more excited as he learned, but then had his enthusiasm dampened by the shock of the cost of entry. In booth after booth he was excited by what was available and then taken aback by prices. He asked me "How does a startup company get into this business?"

That conversation sat with us for a long time until one day we said – there should be a way to create quality equipment for those wanting to get into an exciting industry at prices that permit those first steps. Equipment has been available which does not totally make the grade - or the industries’ usually high quality equipment which does – but also carried the usual high prices.

The Horn Group was created dedicated to the task of offering quality remote positioning devices for those professionals seeking prices which allow entry into the video field. Our aim is the design of basic units which meet the demands of professional results, without the bells and whistles which tend to drive costs up. Key is smooth, silent operation, reliability and support for those who purchase our equipment. We employ our many years experience in engineering and designing remote positioning equipment. Whether used in production or in field installations, we promise quality created through experience.

THE HORN GROUP – THG
BORN FROM THE DEDICATION OF IT’S FOUNDER, DON HORN, TO CREATION OF AFFORDABLE PROFESSIONAL LEVEL REMOTE POSITIONING DEVICES - AND AN ASSURANCE OF APPLYING THE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE TO THE ONGOING TASK OF SUPPORTING THOSE GOALS.

THG offers systems for today's market at affordable prices. By "value engineering" products, each component is chosen to do its job at the least possible cost, without compromising quality, no unnecessary frills are built in. The result is quality and performance at a reasonable cost.

THG's experience in engineered noise control developed over the years assures results. Motors are shock mount insolated to prevent noise transmission, and are surrounded by sound deadening materials. Gears formed from noise canceling materials insure virtually no audible gear noise transmission. Backlash, a cause of positioning errors, is minimized by providing compliance in the form of sound deadening polyurethane idler gears. THG, utilizes spur-gears, opting for their increased efficiency. Current materials technology in the form of gears fabricated from high-impact elastometers, eliminates metal to metal contact noise conduits inherent in gearing, and offers compliance in mesh, helping to insure tightness of drive. THG incorporates precision roller thrust bearings, and where high load rotational shafts operate, uses state-of-the-art precise IGLIDE™ bearings. Minimizing drive friction insures steady slow speed control, necessary in "creep" speed controls.
